I will be bringing the class I created and developed at the beautiful Cuatro Vientos in Todos Santos into a zoom class for the first time.

Now, people from anywhere in the world, with any level of skill or fitness, can join me in this holistic therapeutic workout from their homes, hotel rooms or even outdoors!

 
 

MORE INFO ABOUT DANCE LAB: MOVEMENT THERAPY FOR ALL YOUR SELVES

  • Dance Lab is a holistic therapeutic experience — you will connect with, exercise and nourish your mind, body, heart and soul

  • Later in 2023 Dance Lab will be available as a monthly subscription via my Patreon page for $50 USD/month

  • Classes are on Wednesdays at 3:30 PM Pacific/4:30 PM Mountain/6:30 PM Eastern - 90 minute duration

  • Classes are held on a private zoom call - you will have the option of whether or not to make yourself visible to the other participants

  • There will be 4 Dance Lab live sessions per month

  • If you aren’t able to attend the live session, you will receive a link to each class recording to enjoy at your own convenience

  • Try it for as long as you want, you are free to unsubscribe at any time

 

In order to Parcipate in Dance Lab Online you will need:

1) A Spotify account

2) A Zoom account

2) A Bluetooth speaker

3) A computer or any device that has the Zoom app

4) An additional device, like a phone, in order to play Zoë’s Spotify playlist which you will connect to your bluetooth speaker

5) A yoga mat

6) 90 minutes of privacy, if at all possible

WHAT IS DANCE LAB?

Share the sunset with me

Combine the fun of going out dancing with your friends with the safety of dancing alone in your living room and you have dance lab. Think of this class as ecstatic dance class, lovingly guided by a dance therapist accompanied by an eclectic playlist selected by a DJ. 

The class is fun and playful, and you will experience a holistic workout that encourages authentic and free expression of body, mind, heart and soul. Zoë provides guidance in exploring and developing your inner resources - imagination, compassion, creativity, curiosity, and self awareness (on all levels: body, mind, emotion & energy).

You will also develop your core muscles, increase strength & flexibility and learn how to move in a way that feels most beneficial to you. This is a practice in listening to your intuitive guidance so that you can get the best individual workout possible in each session.

You will feel and move through a full range of music, energies, emotions and parts of self. 

Dance Lab is an opportunity for you to have a unique artistic & healing experience of your inner selves - you will be held and inspired by an evocative, fun and eclectic playlist of music, Zoë’s ability to hold and guide your expereince, and the the infectious group energy.

 

Get into your weird

 

The general structure of the class is as follows:

1) 10 minutes of lying down relaxation with music and guided visualization

2) 10 minutes of closed eyes stretching, exploring the body and the imagination through free movement & floor work

3) 10 minutes of yoga flow - guided by zoe or self-exploration 

4) 10 minutes of core-focused pilates guided by Zoë

5) 30 minutes of improvised movement and dance - prompted and guided by Zoë - moving through different energies, types of movement, parts of self and emotions

Themes explored:

  1. body part awareness/full body awareness

  2. polarities

  3. sensuality/sexuality/sassiness

  4. power/boundaries/anger/rebellion

  5. inner child connection/playfulness

  6. self love/sharing blessings

6) 10 minutes of sharing our experiences at the end (optional)


Can I actually learn how to dance in Dance Lab?

My answer is yes, but not in the way you think. Not in the way society has taught us – which is from the outside in. Not from the very limited idea of who gets to be a dancer, and who doesn’t.

The way I teach is from the inside out. I teach from the point of view of wholeness – my belief in the beauty of the whole human. Darkness and Light. And everything in between. In Dance Lab, you can develop your skills, with out actually focusing on your skills or the concept of ‘doing it right’.

Dance Lab is about developing what I think of as the four core resources – creativity, compassion, curiosity & consciousness. These are our human super powers, available to everyone. When we practice listening, being, feeling and expressing in a safe space, we develop these resources and the dance naturally flows from there.

You will become a better dancer, because you’ll be more deeply in tune with your body, because you’ll develop your own moves, and you’ll learn to trust yourself. You’ll develop strength, flexibility, rhythm, breath capacity, alignment and a fuller range of expressiveness.

I don’t like to teach people steps because I believe everything you need is already inside of you. Anyway, I’ve always preferred to improvise. My goal is to create a safe, inspiring, artistic, evocative space where you can truly listen to your body, feel your energy and express authentically what needs to be expressed.

This class is for everyone. It’s not just for “Dancers”, or “Creatives” or fit people. It’s for anyone who wants to connect with a deeper, freer aspect of their human experience. It’s a place where you get to be all yourselves. It’s a place of therapeutic release. You will experience a holistic personalized workout that is aligned with your true self. With all your selves.
